A traineeship is an education and training programme with work experience that is focused on giving young people the skills and experience that employers are looking for.

*Could your business offer work experience?
*Is your business interested in supporting young people who are looking for work?
*Are you committed to engaging with your community and developing local talent and skills?
*Could you provide a young job seeker with a positive experience in the work place?

If the answer to any of these questions is “yes” you should consider becoming one of our work experience partners.

Traineeships are an ideal opportunity for young people, aged 16 to 24, who are motivated to get a job but lack the skills and experience that employers are looking for.

Traineeships are designed to help young people aged 16 to 24 who do not yet have the appropriate skills or experience, they provide the essential work preparation training, English, Maths and work experience needed to secure an apprenticeship or employment.

For some young people, a lack of understanding of the working world is a significant barrier to finding and sustaining employment. Penshaw View Training wants to work with you to offer young people the opportunity to overcome this barrier through work experience placements.

By working with us to offer a work placement, you’ll have a unique opportunity to trial them and see how they might fit into your company. You’ll see them in action, allowing you to build a good picture of their capabilities and attitude and the opportunity to move on to an Apprenticeship or employment with you, if that’s something you want to pursue.

Employers are not required to pay young people taking part in traineeships but are encouraged to support trainees with expenses such as transport and meals.

Once the young person has finished their traineeship with your company, we ask that you give them an interview, give us some meaningful written feedback and a reference to help the young person secure an apprenticeship or employment.

If you decide to employ the young person you will be eligible for a £1,000 government grant.
