Risk Assessment Training

This practical Risk Assessment Training course is designed to help organisations comply with the Management of Health and Safety Regulations 1999 by explaining how to complete a suitable and sufficient workplace risk assessment. Risk assessments are a legal requirement for all types of workplaces.

The course helps you to understand each of the key steps of a risk assessment, including how to identify risks, manage hazards and determine the likelihood of harm, so that you are confident in carrying out a risk assessment in your own premises.

Who is this course for?

This practical risk assessment training is suitable for anyone who has responsibility for carrying out a risk assessment of their workplace. The person who carries out the risk assessment is named the ‘competent person’ and this can be the business owner, a manager, a supervisor or anyone else within the business who has sufficient training, skills, experience and knowledge to be able to carry out the risk assessment process safely and effectively.

This Risk Assessment course is suitable for all industries, workplace environments and premises and ensures that your company complies with the Management of Health and Safety Regulations 1999.

What does this course cover?

  • An introduction to risk assessments using the key terms used throughout the course. It details why risk assessments are important, who should carry one out, and what details should be recorded. 
  • The legislation surrounding risk assessments are and the legal responsibilities placed on different people in the workplace. It also explains how the legislation is enforced and the repercussions of not complying with the law. 
  • Key steps in the risk assessment process, explaining how to identify hazards, deciding who may be harmed by them and how, evaluate the risks and record the significant findings. 
  • The ‘Hierarchy of Risk control’ explains in which you should select control measures to eliminate or reduce the risks associated within the workplace. 
  • Explaining the importance of keeping your risk assessment up to date, when you should review it and how you should inform employees and contractors of changes.

How will I be assessed?

A practical completion of a ‘suitable and sufficient’ risk assessment.

What will I receive after completion?

Successful candidates will receive a Penshaw View Certificate.
