Business Beats Cancer Newcastle raise £95,000 for Cancer Research UK

North-East-based charity Business Beats Cancer Newcastle recently hosted a gala dinner to raise awareness for Cancer Research UK, with all proceeds funding the ground-breaking research conducted right on our doorstep.

Business Beats Cancer Newcastle raised an incredible £35,000 for Cancer Research UK at their charity gala dinner last month, meaning the brand-new board has now raised over £95,000 in just nine months.

In June 2023, Business Beats Cancer was taken over by a brand new board of nine successful business leaders from across the region, to bring the North East’s corporate community together to join the fight against cancer.

Last month, the board, including Chairman Chris Breckon, Philippa Breckon, Graeme Stammers, Laura Middleton, Sian Buchan, Helen Fawcett, Paul Lovett, Suzannah Harnor and Christine McVay, came together to harness their networks and organise a charity gala dinner in support of Cancer Research UK.

The board recently welcomed its newest member, Chris Hall, General Sales Manager at Aston Martin Newcastle, who has been an active supporter of the charity over the last year.

The event, which was held at the Hilton Hotel in Gateshead, featured a live auction, a three-course meal, speeches from Richard Gibson and Professor Steve Clifford, and entertainment from the cover band Hip Hip Hooray.

Chris Breckon, Chairman of Business Beats Cancer Newcastle, said:

“I am extremely proud of the entire board for making the Gala Dinner possible in such a short period of time. Every penny raised stays in the North East to fund lifesaving research into Cancer Research UK’s ground-breaking science right here on our doorstep. We’d like to thank everyone for their continued support; together, we will beat cancer.

We are currently in the planning stages of next year’s Gala Dinner and look forward to welcoming everyone there, at an exciting new venue.”

Following a successful night, Business Beats Cancer Newcastle intends to continue hosting the annual charity gala event, hoping to raise awareness and bring together the business community to support the life-saving research conducted by Cancer Research UK.
